Reaching out to Laura was easily the best decision I've made regarding my health and wellness. Prior to working with her, I struggled with disordered eating, body image issues and placed an immense amount of stress on myself to be "perfect". During my first session, Laura made recommendations that in a short amount of time, made such a big difference in the way I viewed myself and my relationship with food. I started eating more rather than less, sleeping better, my acne cleared up, my digestion issues improved tremendously and I finally felt at peace. I had read dozens of self-help books, tried different diets, read hundreds of articles about nutrition, but Laura was the final piece to the puzzle. She's incredibly easy to talk to, knowledgable and goes the extra mile to ensure that you feel your absolute best. The follow-up sessions were so helpful as she would check in to see what was working/what needed to be tweaked. My favorite thing about working with her has been her approach to treating all components of wellness. Rather just providing a meal plan, Laura asked about work, relationships, my stress levels and perception of self and we worked together to see how those had contributed to my relationship with food. From there, she helped me learn to give myself more grace, and in turn, my original goal of perfection faded away. I no longer stress about going to dinner with friends and actually enjoy my food rather than fearing it. That feeling of freedom has been the greatest gift and I'm so grateful to have Laura as a mentor and friend.

I discovered Laura after years of dealing with digestive and hormonal issues including IBS, food sensitivities, PCOS, cystic acne, fatigue and hypothyroidism. While I made some progress, I felt discouraged that I would never get back to my vibrant, healthy self. I initially found Laura through a podcast (and I’m now loving "The Ancestral RDs"). I was having issues with irregular menstrual cycles and hypothyroid-like symptoms that had persisted for 2 years. And after going to countless doctors and being told that nothing was wrong with me; their only solution was putting me back on hormonal contraceptives. After doing some research, I had no doubt in my mind that Laura was a perfect fit in helping me get my health back on track. I really liked Laura’s approach in addressing my diet by outlining what my intake should look like. I had, unknowingly, been under-eating for my activity level and had become so afraid of eating carbs. Most importantly, Laura helped me have a better relationship with food and with myself. My only regret about working with Laura is that I didn't do it sooner. I'm a software engineer, father, and weekend warrior, and my life was already highly optimized to support these roles, but I just couldn't figure out how to eat in a way that was sustainable. In particular, eating to fuel Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while losing weight was a struggle. I'd previously had a lot of success eating a ketogenic diet, but the intensity of Jiu Jitsu was leaving me feeling flat and rundown. Laura helped me sort through all of the conflicting ideas that I have been struggling with and gave me a plan that realistic and easy to follow. Everything feels second nature now. I don't feel constricted by my diet, and weight is falling off without any real effort. I feel stronger in the gym and more focused behind the keyboard. She always listens to my concerns and goals from session to session and tailors the approach to fit my shifting priorities. She is down to earth, approachable, and responsive to my questions. If you are on the fence or if you feel like there has to be a better way, don't wait like I did. Eating in a way that suits your needs and your biology is a transformative experience.

She crafted a plan specifically for me — not a boilerplate diet that I could have come up with myself by Googling. She also tweaked the plan as she learned new things about me. Because most of her clients are stressed out anxious folks like me, and because she’s been in our shoes, her repertoire for helping me was so much broader than just dietary advice. She helped me come up with strategies to cope with anxiety and was able to offer up different ways of thinking about problems. Laura made an incredible impact on my life through my coaching experience with her. I initially started working with Laura to determine why I was experiencing physical fatigue and ended up walking away with a different perspective on who I see myself as physically. Through Laura's encouragement to set goals and to look at how I could attain those goals I was able to achieve so much more from our time together. By increasing my caloric intake, eating the right foods and allowing my body to heal from stresses my fatigue is gone. I am now more aware of my body and how stresses and nutrition can greatly impact it. In addition, through questions Laura asked me from our counseling sessions I began to process how I really saw myself. The questions she asked were simple questions, but ones that no one had asked before. It made me think on a deeper level than just my physical appearance. Before I met Laura it was not that I could not function, work out, spend time with friends and do what most people do. I probably seemed like most people albeit a bit more tired and forgetful. I have had Hashimoto's since I was in the beginning of my 20's so I had gotten so used to fatigue that I thought it was just how it was supposed to be! Starting a full time job after having finished six years of studying made me realize how tired I really was, though. I suffered from brain fog to a degree where I felt like it influenced my work effort. So I contacted Laura, and it changed my life. We have talked about so many aspects of my life that might influence my health - diet, exercise, eating enough, supplement, sleep, stress, social life etc. Many of which I never dreamed would make a difference! Making a long story short, I have way more energy than I ever thought possible (I had almost come to terms with the fact that I would just always be about 80 percent of 'me'), I am so much stronger in my workouts, recover faster, am able to be much more focused at work, sleep better and I have less 'thyroidy' days where everything hurts. I still have bad days where I feel fatigued and almost don't know my own name but I never dreamed there would be so far between. And now I have a far better idea of what trick those days making it easier for me to reduce their frequency. I really feel like Laura is thorough in her work. She listens to my goals and wishes and works towards them. I have never felt like I was left with an unanswered question and have always felt hopeful and ready to take on the world after a session. I know I have forgotten to mention some of the countless positive things that have come out of being coached by Laura, but I guess it can be summed up in this: it made my life better.

Before I started to work with Laura I was in a place of extreme body negativity and frustration. I was angry that my body was not responding in the way I had hoped despite extreme efforts of restrictive eating and exercise programs.I came across Laura after listening to a podcast on which she was a guest speaker. Her down-to-earth, educated and realistic approach to nutrition resonated very well with me. Laura helped me overcome my fear of "bad" foods. She encouraged me to introduce more food into my diet and nourish my body. This was a terrifying concept as I was so fearful of how my body would change because of this. She challenged me to ask myself the hard questions, to dig deeper into why I had the fears. The changes she suggested were simple, achievable and integrated nutrition, exercise, spiritual and emotional aspects. This holistic approach has helped me hold on to the changes long term. I have a completely different perspective on my journey to health since working with Laura. When I look over the 8 months that I have worked with Laura, I can see the biggest progress in my emotional and mental perspective. Laura helped me realize the role guilt, anger and fear play in inhibiting your goals. Laura has a kind, compassionate and non-judgmental approach with her clients. I reached out to Laura this past Fall, as I have been experiencing irregular menstrual cycles/amenorrhea for the past five years. After reviewing my medical records, dietary journals and personal history, Laura provided me with some personalized and simple initial recommendations. I liked that she didn't automatically jump to complicated protocols or expensive supplementation, which I had been previously trying without success. Her simple approach worked! After one month of following her guidelines, my period returned with regularity. My husband and I can now think about starting a family! Although fertility was my priority when approaching Laura, I am also managing issues with auto-immunity. Laura made a really positive impact on both my physical and mental health. I sought her insight originally because I had been on birth control for about 5 years and after stopping the pill I did not have a period for about 5 months. She recommended dietary and supplemental changes and within one month I was having my period again! When we started our sessions I was only eating about 1200-1500 calories a day, a consequence of eating Paleo and overexercising. She encouraged me to add safe carbs back into my diet and to increase my caloric intake to healthy levels. She also helped introduce me to a wider variety of foods. I have been struggling with un-diagnosed gut related issues since the end of 2011.
