And while that sentiment might sound noble on the surface, it’s also the exact mindset that’s keeping brilliant, hard-working women underpaid and overworked.
This post might ruffle some feathers. But I’m not here to please everyone. I’m here to serve the women who know they were made for more.
The ones who are tired of being told to accept less. The ones who’ve poured years into developing their expertise, and are now ready to step into a new standard—one that honors their time, energy, and brilliance.
Let’s talk about why charging premium prices isn’t just okay—it’s essential.
And more importantly, let’s talk about why you, as a woman and especially as a mother, deserve to charge premium rates for your work.
My Reality: Limited Time, Growing Responsibilities, and No Room for Undervaluing Myself
At the time of writing this, I’m a mom of two. My youngest is just a few months old, and my oldest is almost three.
My time, energy, and attention are more limited than they’ve ever been.
Between breastfeeding, disrupted sleep, and the general chaos of life with toddlers, I can’t and won’t work 40 hours a week anymore. That’s just my reality.
And yet, I’m still the primary breadwinner in our household. I run a multiple six-figure business that’s generated nearly $3 million in revenue in just the last five years.
How? Not by hustling harder… but by charging premium prices and building a business model that supports my life, not the other way around.
Why Charging Premium Prices Is Basic Economics (Not Greed)
Let’s start with a concept we all learned in high school: supply and demand.
When your supply (i.e., your time and energy) is limited, the value of that supply increases. I can’t serve 20+ clients a week.
I have a baby to breastfeed, a toddler who needs me, a team to manage, and oh yeah… I’m a human being who also needs sleep and self-care.
If I only have 5–10 hours a week to work, I must charge accordingly. Otherwise, I’d burn out, quit, and be unable to serve anyone.
So if you’ve ever felt guilty about raising your prices, I want you to ask yourself: is your guilt based on greed, or on the fact that society conditioned you to believe your value should be small?
Spoiler: It’s the conditioning. Not the truth.
Women in Health and Wellness Are Conditioned to Undervalue Themselves
I come from the world of dietetics. I did over 1,200 hours of unpaid internships to earn my RD. That’s 1,200 hours of labor—for free. And I paid for the privilege to work for free.
If that doesn’t scream “your time isn’t valuable,” I don’t know what does.
Even now, newly credentialed dietitians with master’s degrees are being offered jobs at $25–$30 per hour. And we’re told to be grateful for it.
Add in the fact that many of us entered this field because we genuinely care about people’s well-being—and suddenly, the message becomes: if you really cared, you’d do it for free.
Let me be clear: Caring doesn’t mean charging less.
You can care deeply about your clients and still charge what your time, energy, and expertise are worth.
The Dangerous Disconnect: Helping People vs. Making Money
Somewhere along the way, many of us internalized a toxic belief: that we must choose between helping people and making money.
We’ve been fed the lie that financial success equals selfishness, and altruism means sacrifice.
That if you’re really in it to help, you shouldn’t expect to earn much.
But what does that imply? That the only people allowed to make money are those not helping others? That doesn’t make any sense—and yet so many women believe it, even subconsciously.
The truth is, when you earn more, you can help more. You have more freedom, more energy, and more impact. Your business becomes a tool for change, not a source of depletion. This is why charging premium prices is not just about getting rich.
Let’s Talk About the Companies Profiting Off Your Undercharging
Whether it’s hospitals, health startups like Nourish or BetterHelp, or other wellness tech platforms, many of these companies thrive on female labor, especially the labor of credentialed, experienced women in health.
They bill insurance or clients $150–$200/hour and pay dietitians $40–$60/hour.
And that might feel like a win if you’ve been stuck at $25/hour jobs, but you’re still getting a fraction of the value you’re delivering.
And that’s not to mention the lack of benefits, the unpredictable hours, and the emotional toll of high-volume client work.
If you’re okay with that model and love the flexibility, great.
But if you’re settling for it because you think there’s no better option, I want you to know… there absolutely is.
Premium Prices Doesn’t Mean Greedy. It Means Sustainable.
When I teach my clients to build high-ticket signature programs, it’s not about charging the most for the sake of it.
It’s about designing offers that match the transformation you deliver—and give you the freedom to actually live your life.
Because here’s the truth: most women, especially mothers, cannot sustainably serve 30+ clients a week. And you shouldn’t have to.

And eventually, you either quit or show up resentful, and nobody wins in that scenario.
Premium pricing is about honoring the value of your transformation and the cost of your time. Not just to your calendar, but to your family, your health, and your mental well-being.
Charging Premium Prices Helps Everyone—Not Just You
When one woman raises her prices, she sets a new standard for others.
You’re not just improving your own life. You’re giving permission to the woman next to you to charge more, expect more, and demand respect.
You’re challenging the industry norms that say we should settle for less.
And on the flip side, when you undercharge—or worse, work for free—you create ripple effects that drag the entire industry down.
You make it harder for other women to be paid fairly. You reinforce the belief that our work isn’t worth paying for.
Let’s break that cycle together.
Motherhood Expands Your Value—Not Diminishes It
I want to speak directly to the moms for a minute.
We live in a culture that often treats motherhood like a liability when it comes to business. As if having children somehow makes us less capable, less reliable, or less focused.
But I’ve found the opposite to be true. Since becoming a mom, I’ve become more intuitive, more efficient, more empathetic, and more discerning with my time.
Motherhood is not a weakness—it’s a superpower.
It gives you new tools, new depth, and a whole new level of wisdom. That makes your work more valuable, not less.
So if you’re a mom who’s struggling to price your services or wondering if it’s okay to work less and charge more… YES. It’s more than okay. It’s necessary.
Burnout Is Not a Business Strategy
If you’re feeling exhausted, unappreciated, and stretched too thin, here’s the truth:
It’s not because you’re not working hard enough.
It’s not because you need better time management.
It’s because your business model is broken.
You’ve been taught that more clients = more income, and that your value is tied to how many hours you work. But that’s an employee mindset, not a CEO one.
A CEO thinks in terms of value, leverage, and sustainability.
That’s why I teach women to build premium-priced, high-impact offers that serve fewer clients more deeply, so you can make more, work less, and finally breathe again.
Your Time Is Worth It. Your Expertise Is Worth It. You Are Worth It.
You’ve spent years developing your skills.
You’ve invested thousands of dollars into your education.
You’ve served countless clients with care, compassion, and excellence.
You’ve navigated pregnancy, parenting, partnership, and personal growth all while trying to grow a business.
Don’t let anyone tell you that’s not valuable.
And definitely don’t price your services based on fear—fear of rejection, fear of judgment, fear of being “too much.”
Price your services based on the value you provide. The value of your time, your energy, your transformation.
Charge what it takes for your life to work—and then add tax.
Final Thoughts: This Is a Movement, Not Just a Mindset Shift
This isn’t just about money.
It’s about freedom. Leadership. Legacy.
It’s about raising a generation of daughters who don’t have to question their worth.
Who grow up knowing that helping people and building wealth aren’t mutually exclusive. They go hand-in-hand.

Reflect on your current pricing. Is it aligned with your expertise, your time, and your vision?
If not, what would it take to raise your prices and step into that next level of leadership?
And most importantly, are you willing to be the woman who raises the bar for everyone around her?
