How to Market on Social Media Successfully
Martine stresses that a non-negotiable when it comes to successfully marketing on social media is being consistent and wanting to be there. It’s not just about posting for the sake of it—it’s about truly wanting to use the platform as a tool for starting meaningful conversations. It’s then and there that you get to open conversations that will lead to conversions.
Do You Need A Community on Social Media
Martine believes that building a strong community was one of the ways that she was a able monetize her business while working her day job. By shifting her mindset to serving and supporting quality members in her community, she was able to introduce new programs with ease. She feels that community building will continue to be a crucial even online, with new platforms beyond Facebook that offer opportunities for growth.
How to Create a Community Online
Martine suggests a few tips for anyone who wants to do a Facebook group to create an engaged community:
- Make sure you have the right mindset that you want quality members. You can do this by putting 3 entry questions and making sure you vet everyone who joins—don’t hesitate to decline if they’re not a good fit.
- Post conversation starters to encourage engagement.
- Reach out to members regularly with quick check-ins to keep them involved.
How to Be Consistent on Social Media
As for staying consistent on social media, Martine expresses the importance of committing to a content planning session. Whatever your cadence is, whether it’s for an hour or two, you just want to have that time to map out your social strategy and how it will look like for the upcoming week or month. Once the plan is in place, she suggests moving on to the actual creation of the content, and even using scheduling tools to streamline your process. So define your plan, create, and leverage those scheduling tools.
How to Create Content That Converts
Content is not just pictures and videos, it’s also the caption. Martine’s piece of advice is to always put yourself in the shoes of your ideal client because that’s where the creative process starts. You put yourself in their shoes to understand their needs and struggles. By doing this, you can create content that resonates with them, whether its an educational post, an entertaining reel, or a Facebook live sharing a part of your journey—while keeping in mind the goal of serving your audience and guiding them toward your next call to action.
Even if social media marketing can feel stressful, remember that it’s just a tool to help you reach and serve people. And consistency? You can define it in whatever works best for you.
